The Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) also known as the Cash for Clunkers program, was signed into law by President Obama on June 24th 2009.
With over 1,600 cars and 300 trucks available, West Herr has the most vehicles in WNY that qualify for the program. (view List)
You could get $3,500 or $4,500 for your old vehicle depending on average MPG difference and other variables.
Your vehicle must be less than 25 years old on the trade-in date. Only purchase or lease of new vehicles qualify. Generally, trade-in vehicles must get 18 or less MPG.
Trade-in vehicles must be registered and insured continuously for the full year preceding the trade-in.
You don't need a voucher, West Herr will apply a credit at time of purchase.

Cash for Clunkers: What You Need to Know. "Tucked into a military spending bill that passed in June 2009 Congress and was signed by President Barack Obama. Is a piece of legislation meant to help get gas guzzlers off U.S. roads and replace them with new, more efficient vehicles. Called the Consumer Assistance Recycle and Save Act of 2009, or more commonly, “Cash for Clunkers,” the $1 billion program will provide a voucher of up to $4,500 (effectively just knocking that much off the price tag after taxes — dealers will get electronic payments from the feds) to help offset the cost of new car purchases or leases over the next five months." -Source By Josie Garthwaite, Routers.
